Institutions participating in CCAC programs are required to pay an annual participation fee. The CCAC fee structure was set up according to the principles put forward by our diverse community of stakeholders throughout a multi-year consultation process.
Designed to be equitable and affordable, while preserving the arm’s-length nature of the CCAC and our programs, the structure ensures that the contribution of an institution is not linked to the resources required from the CCAC.
From a systems level, CCAC’s Standards, Assessments and Certification, and Training and Networking programs are administered within one organization, whereas internationally, these programs are overseen by separate entities. The collaborative nature of Canada’s model makes it possible to reach high quality animal welfare standards in science at a minimal cost.
