In line with the CCAC Recommended Syllabus for an Institutional Animal User Training Program, the CCAC develops knowledge streams, which are intended as resources to support the development and implementation of the core and noncore topics of institutional animal user training programs by institutions and their animal care committees (ACCs), and to enhance flexibility in order to suit the needs of all animal users (including investigators, post-doctoral fellows, research staff and graduate students).
The training modules of the core stream, which reflect the core topics of the CCAC Recommended Syllabus for an Institutional Animal User Training Program, are relevant to the training of all animal users (including investigators, post-doctoral fellows, research staff and graduate students).
Animals and Housing Systems Streams
The knowledge streams focus on different animal species and housing systems and enable institutions to better tailor their training priorities to the needs of animal users.
Note: The actual training requirements and the competency of animal users are to be determined by institutional ACCs, working with those responsible for training in practice and with the institution's senior administrator.
